Culture & region

Culture is rarely what is missing. Visibility is.

Every region has its fairs, concerts, club evenings and markets. Who hears about them is largely down to chance: a poster at the village entrance, a post in some group, a word at the bakery.

Three sentences you hear everywhere

“I always find out too late.”

The right event does take place. The information simply does not arrive — or arrives once the evening is over.

“Hardly anyone knows about our club fair.”

A committee puts months into it, prints posters, sets out benches. The reach ends at the parish sign.

“I would go. But with whom?”

The experience is there. What is missing is not the offer but the connection to others who also want to go.

What grew out of that

Regional.Events is a platform for events and community, built from Koblenz. It brings together what has been scattered — from the village fair to the club night.

Where
Eifel, Mosel, Westerwald, Hunsrück, Rhineland (Cologne-Bonn) and Rhine-Main (Frankfurt-Mainz).
For whom
Visitors, clubs and associations, organisers, venues, tourism boards, cultural institutions and municipalities.
Cost
Using it and listing an event are free. Only additional, voluntary visibility is paid for.
Status
Reachable as a mobile website, no download needed. The iPhone and Android apps are announced but not yet released.

Regional.Events is operated by SCHMITZ UNIVERSE, proprietor Jonas Schmitz. The platform is being built together with people from the regions who take part voluntarily.

Culture & region

Six regions, six different problems

Visibility fails differently in a wine village than in a city of half a million. Pick a region — each link leads to its live page.

Eifel

Volcanic Eifel, the Ahr valley, the Nürburgring. A lot of ground, little density — here visibility is decided at the parish sign.

Why this stands here and not only there

Culture and business are more closely tied in a region than either side likes to admit. Whoever funds a village fair is usually a company from round the corner — the painter, the savings bank, the drinks wholesaler.

When such a company closes because no one is found to carry it on, more than an employer disappears. A sponsor disappears, a host, a venue. That is the point at which succession and culture turn out to be the same question.

For clubs, tourism boards and municipalities

The useful part first: what an association can actually do, at no cost.

List an event

Anyone hosting a fair, a concert or a club evening lists it free of charge and gets found. No contract, no minimum term.

Open consultation

Every Wednesday the platform introduces itself in open online meetings: at 14:00 for networks, tourism and municipalities, at 18:30 for anyone who wants to join in.

Take part rather than watch

The crew are people from the regions who voluntarily show what is happening locally. No obligation, in their own time.

How things are said here

  • Nothing that is not yet settled is presented as finished. The apps are announced and not released — which is exactly how it is written above.
  • Visibility and advertising are meant to stay in the region. Attention earned here strengthens the places, clubs and businesses on the ground.
  • The small village fair counts too, not only the big stage.
